Living Documentation Maturity Model
This model describes how documentation practices evolve from no shared documentation to a consistent and structured system.
Stage 0: No Documentation
Documentation does not exist in any meaningful way. Knowledge is primarily held in people's heads or spread across chats and tickets.
Stage 1: Project-Style Documentation
Projects spin up, document the thing being built, then close down. Documentation is effectively snapshotted in time and often becomes stale after delivery.
Stage 2: Wiki-Style Documentation (No Taxonomy)
A wiki exists, but there is no shared taxonomy. Departments, organizations, and projects document their work in different ways and at different levels of detail.
